As I think of St. Patrick's Day, I'm wondering if I feel lucky. Images of Clint Eastwood in spaghetti westerns come to my mind. I have to giggle. Where the hell is my mind going these days? I don't even seem coherent to myself. I'm on a complete free fall of ideas and experiences without any clue!!
This makes me think about my favorite lighthearted western, My Name is Nobody with Spanish actor Terence Hill. He was HOT!! Oh yeah...again...this doesn't make sense.
Do I feel lucky? Hell yeah!! I'm blessed with the ability to write this silliness right now and enjoy the levity of my own ponderings. It is a wonderful feeling of freedom and release.
Then there is St. Patrick and the release of snakes from Ireland. The snakes were symbolic of paganism to which I'm rather partial. I like paganism. I love Stonehenge and all the amazing traditions of the Celtic past heritage. Faeries and goblins, leprechauns and all that rich mythology is so entertaining no wonder it fills children's literature.
Who doesn't remember their breakfast box of Lucky Charms and all the memories of reading the box before going to school or out to play? Green beer parties in college, wearing green to celebrate Irishness, bar strolls in Key West...Hmmmm, all pleasant memories.
And Green? Well, it's the color of money, leaves, grass and bile. How it is Irish? Have you ever seen the hills of Ireland? There is no green quite like that in the world, except maybe in the eyes of Irish and Scottish natives. It is truly breathtakingly beautiful out there. For all of you who enjoy this heritage, I salute you and your ancestors.
Happy Irishness sans the St Patrick for me please!! Bring back the nymphs of Olde Ireland!! I miss the Druids!!

I love many things about the Celtic traditions, the older I get the more things I learn that I've liked all along, have roots in Celtic tradition. One of these day's I'll research more and see if there's some cosmic connection.
As for Lucky Charms, I'm pretty sure there's more marshmellows than cereal now... and I'm ok with that! Website: http://www.jgoode.com
