If
you ever want an amazing New Year's Eve experience, it sure seems like Nemo has
the best party on SouthBeach!
I've never gone to it, but enjoyed watching as I make my rounds around the
area. For my first night celebration of living on the beach, I did dine
at Nemo's at their kitchen front bar area. The cooking staff got a kick
out of my look of amusement and gave me lots of yummy things to taste! I
really recommend sitting there if you are dining alone.
Nemo
is the restaurant where I like to celebrate my birthday, losing a job or any
transition in my life that needs a positive push. There is no negative
experience to be found anywhere within these walls. The staff is friendly
and the food is absolutely fabulous. Expect to spend a minimum of $100 a
person, but you will delight with every dollar spent. (Just watch out for
the wine list and the bottles ranging well over $400 and $500, there are much
more reasonable choices.) The people-watching is also terrific, so
entertainment is included.
To
start your meal, I recommend the crab cakes which are light and fluffy with a
wonderful corn relish. It isn't Maryland
style, so expect something more delicate, but just as tasty. The Caesar
salad is good, and you can request having it without anchovies or
calamari. However, the tomato salad with shaved parmesan and vinaigrette
is the way to go if you have someone to share with.
This
is really a fish and seafood restaurant that offers an array of fresh fish and
seafood everyday. However, we were in the mood for meat and had the filet
mignon and NY strip. The meats melt in your mouth with every bite.
The filet comes with mashed potatoes mixed with goat cheese and a wonderful
port wine glaze. The NY Strip is aged to perfection and served with fresh
beets on arugula.
For
dessert, I highly recommend the Symphony of Chocolate! It is the daily
chef's creation and a huge treat!! I hear the banana split is good too if
you aren't a chocolate fiend such as I.
